What will I do with what I have learned?

The dp studio atelier in Paris: a patternmaker reading a large pattern, another working in the background, by the windows

Learning patternmaking gives knowledge.

Putting it into practice gives experience.

Transforming it lets you create.

At dp studio, we want to go beyond the making of a model. Our ambition is to give everyone the means to develop their own ideas, their own volumes and their own way of conceiving the garment.

Creation begins when you no longer seek only to reproduce a form, but ask yourself what can be done with it.

A base can become a new silhouette. A line can be moved. A volume can be amplified, reduced or repurposed. Several constructions can meet to give rise to a new form.

Experiment

Transform to imagine differently

Patternmaking then becomes a true field of experimentation.

You observe. You search. You try. You transform. You start again.

Little by little, the starting model fades to make way for a personal creation.

This is where technical mastery becomes creative freedom.

Your creations

We also wish to bring this world to life through the work of those who use the dp studio method, patterns and tools.

This work bears witness to the diversity of possible interpretations and shows that one and the same base can give rise to very different creations.

Your practice in turn becomes a source of inspiration.

Discover our community’s creations and everyone’s own interpretations. Share your work and inspire other sewing and patternmaking enthusiasts.
