Manteau manche marteau

Coat with saddle sleeves

Use this technical file to make your own coat. By following the written instructions and accompanying sketches of this technical file, you will learn how to make a coat with saddle sleeves. The saddle sleeve is similar to the principle of the raglan sleeve but the top seam extends farther and reproduces the shape of the armhole curve. This model is made using the bodice base pattern as a starting point and the sleeve seams can evolve to varying degrees. For this example, the front seam ends in the neckline whereas at the back it extends to center back. These seams allow the sleeves to be separated from the garment body. The overall cut is narrow and there is a welt pocket. Each step of the working method is explained clearly for a full understanding and its attention to detail will lead to a top-of-the-range result that you can continue to transform depending on the style aimed at and in compliance with the size chosen at the beginning.
